In July, young musicians from across the country traveled to Los Angeles to learn and share in music-making. The Los Angeles Times wrote the resulting music was “beyond belief. Close your eyes and you’d never know that this might be a diverse collection of kids from 28 states and one U.S. territory, from a wide range of backgrounds, who had only been playing together for about a week.”

On Saturday, Oct. 16, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra officially opened the doors of its Judith and Thomas L. Beckman YOLA Center in Inglewood, CA. YOLA provides young people (ages five through eighteen) with free instruments, intensive music instruction, and opportunities to perform on stages in their communities and around the world. On October 9, 2021 the Homecoming Gala saw the LA Philharmonic Orchestra, with Gustavo Dudamel conducting, return to the stage at Walt Disney Concert Hall for the first time in 579 days.
